Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying (CPC30108) [Australian Student]

Upon successful completion of this qualification students may be employed as a Bricklayer.

In this course you will learn the practical of bricklaying skills in constructing walls, partitions, foundations and other structures.You will learn how to read plans, use various tools and machines to cut and shape bricks, construct ornamental brickwork and archways, and construct scaffolding.

As well, you will gain the skills to drive a scissor lift (also known as a mobile work platform), obtain tickets (licences) to operate explosive power tools, and obtain an Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Construction Induction card giving you permission to work on any building site in Victoria.

 Students at TIV all receive, at no extra cost, an industry starting kit comprising:

· All required Personal Protection Equipment (Safety Boots, Safety Clothing, Hard Hat and Safety Glasses);

· A Basic Tool Kit

. The training to gain an OH&S Induction Card (White Card)

· All Training Materials and Texts

PREREQUISITE Minimum year 10 or equivalent. No previous building experience required
DURATION 49 weeks (including holidays)

Course Fees covers the cost of tuition fees, tools of trade, text books, protective clothing and GST. Fees are quoted as at January 2011 and are subject to change.

 

ELIGIBLITY FOR GOVERNMENT FUNDING
Government funded places are available if you are:

  • Aged under 20 on 1 January in the year in which the course you wish to study commences
  • Aged 20 and over if the course you wish to study is higher than the highest qualification you already hold. For example, you would be eligible for a funded place in the Certificate III course if the highest qualification you already hold in any field is Certificate II or lower.
  • A Job Network referral meeting the above requirements, in which case all fees are waived.

Delivery

This qualification is delivered within a classroom and simulated workplace environment. A training plan detailing the training dates and associated units of competency will be provided at your Induction day.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

  • Have you been working in the building and construction industry?
  • Do you have a minimum of 4 years experience in this field?
  • Are you interested in having your experience assessed as to whether it counts towards your qualification?

TIV offers prospective students the opportunity to gain RPL on current skills. Government Funding may be available to eligible applicants. Please refer to the link RPL Information to find out more.

Credit Transfer (CT)

  • Do you already hold a qualification for one or more of the units on offer?
  • Do you have a certificate or statement of attainment from a Registered Training Organization showing these results?

Prospective students may be eligible to receive credit transfer based on existing qualifications.
Applicants should provide CT evidence to TIV at the time of application.
