Upon successful completion of this qualification students may be employed under occupational titles such as a Bricklayer.
In this course you will gain the skills to drive a scissor lift (also known as a mobile work platform), obtain tickets (licences) to operate explosive power tools, and obtain an Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Construction Induction card giving you permission to work on any building site in Victoria. You will learn how to read and interpret plans and drawings, how to estimate, all aspects of bricklaying in constructing walls, partitions, foundations and other structures, conduct set outs, use various tools and machines to cut and shape bricks, construct ornamental brickwork and archways, and construct scaffolding. Finally, you’ll complete the course with the skills and confidence required to enable you to work on both commercial and domestic sites anywhere in Australia.
Students at TIV all receive, at no extra cost, an industry starting kit comprising:
· All required Personal Protection Equipment (Safety Boots, Safety Clothing, Hard Hat and Safety Glasses);
· A Basic Tool Kit

Delivery
This qualification is delivered within a classroom and simulated workplace environment. A training plan detailing the training dates and associated units of competency will be provided at your Induction day.

· Copy of passport
· Copy of visa
· Certified copies of your highest academic qualifications translated into English
· Letter of release (if transferring from another training provider)
· Credit transfer evidence (if applicable)
· Recognition of prior learning application (if applicable)
· Copy of OSHC (if currently held)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
- Have you been working in the building and construction industry?’
- Do you have a minimum of 4 years experience in this field?
- Are you interested in having your experience assessed as to whether it counts towards your qualification?

Credit Transfer (CT)

Prospective students may be eligible to receive credit transfer based on existing qualifications. Applicants should provide CT evidence to TIV at the time of application.
