The Certificate III course will give you a career opportunity to work on site as a Plasterer in Australia.

In this course you will gain the skills to drive a scissor lift (also known as a mobile work platform), obtain tickets (licenses) to operate explosive power tools, and obtain an Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Construction Induction card (formerly known as a red card) giving you permission to work on any site in Victoria. You will learn basic carpentry skills to construct metal stud walls and ceilings, how to read and interpret plans and drawings, how to estimate, all aspects of plastering hand skills, working on fire rated walls, ceiling systems and wet area systems, and how to construct scaffolding. Finally, you will complete the course with the skills and confidence required to enable you to work on both commercial and domestic sites anywhere in Australia.


Students at TIV all receive, at no extra cost, an industry starting kit comprising:

· All required Personal Protection Equipment (Safety Boots, Safety Clothing, Hard Hat and Safety Glasses);

· A Basic Tool Kit

. An OH&S Induction Card (White Card)

· All Training Materials and Texts

PREREQUISITE 18 years old and above.
Completed equivalent to Australian Year 12
Minimum IELTS of 5.5 or equivalent
No previous building experience is required
DURATION 49 weeks (including holidays)
Full time study means 20 hours of class time per week(20 hours per week is considered to be full time study)
ASSESSMENT METHODS Theory and Practical components

COURSE FEES $13,099.00 (Australian Dollars)Course Fees covers tuition fees, tools of trade, text books, protective clothing, additional specialized accredited training in the use of tools and equipment, and GST.Application Fee $150.Fees are quoted as at August 2011 and are subject to change. Delivery

This qualification is delivered within a classroom and simulated workplace environment. A training plan detailing the training dates and associated units of competency will be provided at your Induction day.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

  • Have you been working in the building and construction industry?’
  • Do you have a minimum of 4 years experience in this field?
  • Are you interested in having your experience assessed as to whether it counts towards your qualification?

Credit Transfer (CT)

  • Do you hold a qualification for one or more of the units on offer?
  • Do you have a certificate or statement of attainment showing these results?
  • Do you wish to complete your qualification?

Prospective students may be eligible to receive credit transfer based on existing qualifications. Applicants should provide CT evidence to TIV at the time of application.
