No previous industry experience is required to undertake this course.
This course is for people interested in a career in Building and Construction as:

- A pathway to registration as a Building Practitioner (Registered Residential Builder)
The qualification is designed to meet the needs of builders and managers of small to medium sized building businesses.
In this course you will be trained in how to read plans and specifications, understand and manage contracts, estimate resources, respond to tenders, plan and schedule projects, and apply relevant Government Acts and Regulations. You will also learn how to use the various computer packages commonly used in the industry.
Possible roles this will lead to include, but are not limited to, housing supervisor, quantity surveyor, estimator or scheduler, purchasing officer, contract administrator, building consultant, builder – self employed, registered Building Practitioner* (Low Rise).

Delivery
This qualification is delivered within a classroom environment supplemented by worksite visits and inspections. A training plan detailing the training dates and associated units of competency will be provided at your Induction day.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
- Have you been working in the building and construction industry?’
- Do you have a minimum of 4 years experience in this field?
- Are you interested in having your experience assessed as to whether it counts towards your qualification?
If so, TIV offers prospective students the opportunity to obtain RPL on current skills. Government Funding maybe available to eligible applicants. Please refer to the following RPL Information to find out more.
Credit Transfer (CT)
- Do you hold a qualification for one or more of the units on offer?
- Do you have a certificate or statement of attainment from a Registered Training Organization showing these results?
Prospective students may be eligible to receive credit transfer based on existing qualifications. Applicants should provide CT evidence to TIV at the time of application.
